Be Living Your Light

Thrown down.

Living looking down.

Feeling down.

While looking around.

Eyes darting.

Heart dying.

Words cursing.

Running.

Playing

All over my mind.

BUT NOW LIGHT.

My light shining.

Pushing up.

Living as me.

While looking within.

Eyes glowing.

Heart overflowing.

Words pouring.

Lying down.

Living.

All over my mind.

BUT NOW LIGHT.

All our lights shining.

Pushing out.

Living out loud.

While looking around.

Eyes soaring.

Heart bursting.

Words blessing.

Flying.

Present.

All over the world.

MORE AND MORE LIGHT!

This night do not allow the light of others to diminish all that you can do.  Allow your light to find strength in their light.  Be strong in who you are and build up those around you also living in their light!  Shine my beautiful friend! Light it up!

Be Giving a Gift of Being

I am in constant flux everyday moving from being a human doing, doing, doing while try to be an awake, present human being.

As I have been journeying through this ‘beingness’, I have pondered and sat, ran and rambled and create a free gift to add value to those that want to wander and wonder as a human being.

I have created a sixty day set of emails and videos that will be sent randomly throughout the time to your inbox.  Some wonderings may surprise you, others will make you smile and chuckle, but my hope is that as a collective group of likeminded people we will live through sixty days as present, awake human beings.

I wonder as I wander…. 60 days together!

Be Editing Your Own Words

Do you remember the day that your family got their first cordless phone?

I sure do!

I remember holding the cordless phone up to my ear and then walking to the phone with a cord that was hanging in the hallway.

I remember speaking, singing and laughter into one phone while I listened with the other.

I remember hearing the sound of my voice for the very first time.

It was crazy!

Wild.

Weird.

Blew my mind.

Now, as I read the words that I spent many months writing for my “Be Enough” book, I have the same thoughts flowing through my mind.

Crazy.

Wild.

Weird.

Blowing my mind.

I actually can’t believe that I wrote some of the things that I did.  Sexy Neck assures me that it is like taking a walk within my mind as he reads what I’ve written.

Full of gratude.

Humbled by my experiences.

Feeling loved for those who have leaned in.

Excited to share my love of words that flow out of every part of who I am.

Back to editing in bed.

Back to listening to my own voice for the very first time.

Be Not Computing

“So, friends, every day do something
that won’t compute. Love the Lord.
Love the world. Work for nothing.
Take all that you have and be poor.
Love someone who does not deserve it.”
-Wendell Berry, Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front
The inspiring words behind this post.  The simple message of doing something that won’t compute.
Be unreasonably kind.
Do something loving that doesn’t make sense.
Don’t explain.
Just give not computing a try!
Let us know what you decide.

Be Watching Time… Tick Tock Tick

Is time rushing by you?

Do you fee the years slipping through your fingers?

What do you think and feel about time?

I have been reading a book called “The Big Leap” and his premise is that “time is not a pressure from outside, that we can make as much time as we need.”   As I read this last night, it was a profound moment.  The examples that he had in the book as well as his thorough explanation on time made me take off my Ironman Timex watch for the first time since I was a pre-teen.

The gloves are out.

The watch is off.

I am taking my time back.

Getting rid of the words, “I don’t have time….”

I am going on a diet recommended by Gay Hendricks of “No complaints about time!”

Feel free to join me on my diet or help me with ridding myself of those words above.

Tick.

Tock.

Tick.

Be Counting Time?

IMG_1929[1]

We are fortunate to have four, well-rounded seasons in our part of the world.

They flow easily and gently through beautiful hot summers, into a cool, colourful autumn, then a crisp, snowy winter and a mild, life-giving spring.

Can you feel the change in the air right now during this season?

It is almost as though now should be the new year.

The greatest gift of these seasons we are given each and every year, consistently without question is that we are all given the gift of the same amount of time.

No less than another and no more.

What will you do with this gift of your time during this new season?

Will you make your time count or just count the time?

You can choose.

No excuses.

It is your gift.

The seasons come.

Time goes.

Be enough.

Be Pondering Newton’s Third Law

In Mr. Voigt’s Chemistry 11 course, I sat in the middle of the science lab room on the right hand side.

I was a mid-pack kind of kid that was really trying to hide.  Numbers and science weren’t my forte.  I couldn’t feel anything from numbers and the subject of science, well, that was a whole bunch of really long, confusing words.  BUT the quotes on the right side of Mr. Voigt’s wall were a hook for me.  In his class, I started writing down quotes.  In my sixteen year old mind, I read over and drank up these quotes every day.    These quotes were more nourishing to me than any book or writing assignment that Ms. Birdsall did in English class.  (Yes, these were actually my teacher’s names.  Quite fitting aren’t they?)  These quotes help me survive and even thrive in Chemistry 11.

My favourite quote was: “Minds are like parachutes, they only function when open.”

Today, I thought of Mr. Voigt and I must confess that for the first time in my life I was pondering something science-y.

Newton’s Third Law

Every action will cause an equal and opposite reaction.  (Did I get that right?)

A good example for me right now would be when I think about swimming in our pool.  I amazingly have strength to push the water backwards and miraculously the water pushes me forward.  Viola, Newton’s Third Law.

The crazy thing is not only have I been pondering this in the physical realm around us, but I have taken it a step further and am pondering it in the mental realm we create in our minds.

Do our thoughts create equal and opposition reactions?

Could thoughts be considered actions?

The reason that I have been thinking this is that over the last three months I have infused my mind with a potpourri of positive podcasts, the discourse of thoughtful, serving people and videos that are encouraging and motivating.

Could these actions pouring into and nourishing my mind be creating a new mental picture for my life?

Newton’s Third Law for changing your mind.

Your dreams.

Your life.

Stay tuned.

This is only the beginning of this scientific experiment!

Be Wondering About Words

Why are people mean and rude?

Short with words and sometimes crude?
Why do we decide to speak this way?
Without compassion with what we say?
How does the tongue twist and hurt?
It can make anyone feel like dirt?
Why do we withhold our words sometime?
While other days they are like a chime?
Words can be cruel.
Make me look like a fool.
They can lift someone up.
Even make me spill my cup.
Sweet sentences to soothe my ears.
Little ditties to give me the gears.
How I love to play with words!
Let’s use them to build up, anything else is absurd.

Building.
Building up.
Built.
Built up.
With words.
Don’t be absurd.
You turd.

Be Using Words as Weapons

Heat comes over my body by the words said to me.

The slice me.

Dice me.

Cut me up.

For many weeks now I have chosen to be quieter in my life.

Be still.

Use less words.

But this change makes people uncomfortable.

The one who had the words of many, now has words of few?

The change from many to few words was swift, like a swipe of a sword.

It started three and a half weeks ago…

I shared an idea, just a fun, easygoing idea with someone close, but often my ideas are questioned.

I still try to share.

Call me an optimist or perhaps even crazy.

Sometimes my explanations must be Russian due to the confusion. (I don’t even speak Russian!)

Why can’t ideas be encouraged, valued, and built up?

Why do they need to be questioned until nothing is left and all excitement is gone?

Next, I found out that my grandma died by a forwarded emailed from my mom’s sister, that I haven’t heard from since my mom died. This Aunt I spent EVERY Christmas, Easter and summer vacation with growing up! We lived in the same town.

She said my email didn’t work.

The same one that I have had since email was invented.

And then, I heard from a friend going through a very stressful time. Their body was exhausted, they felt their life was a disaster. They were overwhelmed with overwhelming life.

I told them my latest mistake and I shared a funny story but they said they didn’t need that. They told me just to pray.

Lastly, I tried to help someone out. I did something they asked me to do. I did what they were suppose to do. And all I heard were complaints about their health, their money, their stuff.

They didn’t once use the words, “thank you”.

We are thoughtless in our words that cut like a sword.

In our Western comfy world, our words are weapons.

They belittle instead of build up.

They chastise instead of praise.

They truly cut me up.

Broken.

Torn.

No words can diffuse this pain.

Off for a run!
