Be Finding Forward

Forward.

Moving not backwards.

Forwards.

Moving in a direction.

Which one will we choose?

Moving from the west to the east.

Finding the dance that takes you forward.

Into your dreams.

Into your spirit.

Into your spidey sense.

Presence.

How does one stay present?

Moving forward?

This is what I have learned and this is what propels me forward.

Taking peeks into the tiny, narrow, rear view mirror to pour gratitude into where I came from.

Gratitude.

Love.

Letting go.

be-finding-forward

Looking straight-forward into my large, expansive windshield watching the exciting places I am going.

Joy.

Peace.

Light.

Eyes, wide open, looking for the gold thread of hope woven throughout my day.

Holding my empty hands of faith.

God’s goodness poured out over all our lives.

Into my hands.

Will we choose to look for it?

Will we choose to have open hands to receive it?

Moving forwards.

Dancing the dance of my life.

Trusting.

Fun.

Faith.

Forward.

Smooch, Joanna

Be Living Your Light

Thrown down.

Living looking down.

Feeling down.

While looking around.

Eyes darting.

Heart dying.

Words cursing.

Running.

Playing

All over my mind.

BUT NOW LIGHT.

My light shining.

Pushing up.

Living as me.

While looking within.

Eyes glowing.

Heart overflowing.

Words pouring.

Lying down.

Living.

All over my mind.

BUT NOW LIGHT.

All our lights shining.

Pushing out.

Living out loud.

While looking around.

Eyes soaring.

Heart bursting.

Words blessing.

Flying.

Present.

All over the world.

MORE AND MORE LIGHT!

This night do not allow the light of others to diminish all that you can do.  Allow your light to find strength in their light.  Be strong in who you are and build up those around you also living in their light!  Shine my beautiful friend! Light it up!

Be a Motivational Philosopher

Forty-one years old.

I have figured out what I want to “be” in this life!

I want to use my ever-thinking, hardcore mind to write.

Using every word I utter to encourage and inspire.

Pouring light into every person I pass and meet.

Being vulnerable and open myself first to bring that out in others.

I want to motivate others to find freedom through whatever means works for them.

My company has solutions for everyone.

Untying knots that hold people back.

Shaking things up.

Agent of change.

Helping people dream and achieve their goals.

Achieving my goal of spending more time with that hardworking man behind me!

Using my gift of being a motivational philosopher.

Being.

Me.

Be Preparing to Celebrate a Great Life

The lights streams in down the lake as I sit at my parents kitchen table.

Dad eats his lunch and adds to our dialogue.

Jamie sits and writes my mom’s eulogy.

20131228-143403.jpgAuntie Gail is on the phone to fill in the gaps. Thank God for her great memory.
JC and CC practice memorizing their poem.

Marnie keeps the copious amounts of beautiful flowers and food organized.

Sexy Neck is gathering and testing AV equipment. He is so talented and a pillar of faith.

Me, I walk around in disbelief.
Numb.
Dumbfounded.
I gather photos and memorabilia that represent my mom and her life.
I add what I can, as I love having this time to talk about my beautiful mom.

I am privileged to be walking this journey with such selfless, thoughtful, caring, loving people.

My prayer is that tomorrow God’s love, peace and light will shine on us tomorrow. I pray that my mama would be proud.

See you tomorrow in person and in spirit.

Be Repeating

We have our time. Hospice tomorrow at 9:00am. Not what we are hoping for, but mom needs to transition to new medication before they move her.

Dad and I are not leaving her side until she is through the hospice doors and in her ‘new home’.

Now we repeat with every painful moment:

Mama, we are here.

Mama, we love you.

Mama, today is Thursday. Michelle comes on Saturday.

Mama, we love you.

Mama, today is Thursday. Wendy and Peter will be here soon. Rea and Gail are coming tomorrow. Michelle is here on Saturday.

Mama, we are here.

Be Writing Letters to Santa

December 1st, 2013

Advent had begun. Yeah! We are counting the days until we celebrate Jesus’ birthday.

We put the candles in our advent wreath. We will light one this first week, two the second week, three the third and all four on the week before Christmas. We will light all five on Christmas Day symbolizing Jesus’ light coming into the world.

We have our first door of our advent calendar open, the ornament is on the tree and chocolate covered blueberries are digesting in the boys bellies. We waited til after breakfast and we tried to choose something mildly nutritious for the calendar. Do chocolate covered blueberries qualify?

We started our letters to Santa and we hope to put them in the mailbox tomorrow. We read this book by the Berenstain Bears to see how sister and brother bear write their letters:

The boys worked hard with Grandma and Sexy Neck. We will see what the letters to Santa end up saying.

Be Letting Go

Tis the Season of Rushing… I am starting to feel things rev up inside of me as the calendar becomes packed up and the to-do-list gets longer.

Thank God for the insight of children.

We were playing at the playground last week and JC looked across the lake and exclaimed: “There is a piece of heaven!” Here is the photo I took of what JC was looking at:

Amid the storm that often brews for people during this season, the light of God shines through.

I am definitely in the eye of a storm. I need to keep focused on His light and His love and His ways.

Tomorrow is week two of living 60 kilometres down the lake. When our family of five was staying in this lovely basement suite beside the vineyard, I felt calm and relaxed. But this weekend, we stepped back into our life and I feel confused trying to figure “things” out and I feel ‘harried’.

I am reminded of a saying that I heard when I first became a Christian because I definitely can’t figure this one out.

“Let Go and Let God.”
