Our wee one fell asleep during book time tonight. It was only 6:45pm. Sleep well dear soul!
“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation-either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
My mom sewed this quilt for Owen as she endured her five month cancer treatment journey.
Enveloped in Nana’s creativity, thought and labour of love.
I just found the first quilt I ever made with my friend, Princess P. I had given it to my mom. I remembered how proud she was of me and how she displayed it in our living room. I also knew after many quilting conversations afterwards, that this first quilt inspired her own journey with quilting.
I am sorry folks, but I am not a morning person.
I almost flunked Psychology 100 because it was an 8am class. Studying by sleeping with the textbook under my pillow might have been another reason. (Boys, don’t try this. It does not help you absorb the information.)
Before children, I used to sleep til noon on the weekends. As a teenager, it was usually early afternoon before I awoke. When Sexy Neck and I lived in a small French town, the grocery store would close between noon and 2pm. Most days, the crazy Canadians could be seen sprinting to the grocery store before it closed at noon for a fresh baguette or some milk.
Since having children, I have been blessed. All three of my boys wake up happy, singing, chatting, cuddling.
This morning, as I breastfed our youngest in a sleepy stupor, our oldest popped up beside the bed with this drawing:
Wow! First, who would get up and immediately start drawing? Second, how did this
nighthawk, grumpy morning person Mama get so lucky to have so much love at 6:30am.
I am at a loss for words as I sit and write this. I will let me emails to Sexy Neck (my husband) take you through last night. He was away on work, but my emails to him helped me stay in the moment. I have never had a night like this with my boys. Enjoy the ride. Off to nap.
Strap yourselves in, here we go:

JC seems to be okay, but we should know more by the weekend.
I pray you are having one of the best sleeps every and that you wake up feeling rested. You have alot going on. I appreciate that.
One day/one moment/one person/one problem at a time.

Another vomit session right after I pressed send on the last email. Baby OC is awake and yelling “cookie” over and over – this is comical. Seriously.

Subject: Come home?
Do you want me to come home?
My final responses:
No,but if you could come home on the early side tomorrow that would be fabulous!!
It is comforting knowing you are awake too!
This post is for my Gamers: Danielle on 29th Cres., Angela in Edmonton and Rea in Spain!
Do you want to be a Gamer?
In the past two years, I have played this game 4 times now! (Three times with groups of women and once on my own.)
I have learned about my food addictions, my habits (healthy and unhealthy), my love of exercise and my need for water and sleep.
Mostly, I have learned that I need a community of women, like an old-fashioned quilting bee, to have around to inspire and encourage me. Rea, Angela and Danielle have been these women for me. We have played the game twice together (almost!).
We have learned about each others flossing habits, run ins with rice pudding, setting goals, feeling less fluffy, how to post on facebook so that everyone doesn’t now you are smooching your husband, BB’q sardines, playing for money, what to do with leftover food, and RIP 60.
I have learned moderation with food and unhealthy habits and how to replace these things with healthy habits, exercise, sleep and water! I could talk about this game all day long! I love it!
Need a little inspiration in your life? Check out the book. GAME ON!
