Be Tweaking My Neck

Yessiree Bob, I tweaked my neck.

No idea how.

I wasn’t twerking.

Just living life.

I am so grateful for this time of tweaking.

Time to slow down.

Time to look at the clear blue skies.

An opportunity to be grateful.

No matter the circumstances.

I have work where I choose my daily rhythm.

I can put my health first.

I can lie flat on my back if I need to.

No day shall pass where I will not spend time in gratitude.

Even with a pain in my neck!

Look at this view:

Even in the midst of physical and emotional pain, we can find gratitude.

We just need to choose to look.

(From whatever position we may be in!)

Be in Massive ‘Inaction’!

I had a breakthrough weekend at a business conference last Saturday.  It was truly incredible for the inspiration for action that it provided.  I realized that when you go to conferences, you need to create an action plan to help follow through and to stop from becoming adrenal junkie conference hoppers. Just hopping from conference to conference looking for that next ‘high’ or breakthrough.

Conferences in Las Vegas.

90 Day Game Plans.

Massive Action.

Goal setting and vision creating.

I was so inspired that I decided to create a plan of ‘Inaction’!

Less action.

More Focus.

Less doing.

More being.

My phone now sits on the fridge between 2:30pm and 7:00pm EVERY day.

My computer is off unless I decide to sit down for 15 minutes and give ‘er with focused, concrete goals to be achieved.

My ‘work’ is done in chunks of time lumped  together and spread throughout  the day when it works for me.

My life is back in balance and MASSIVE action is coming from my ‘Inaction’.

I am connecting with people on a deeper, less interrupted level.

My boys and I are reading more, hanging out more and I am more present.

I own my own schedule again.

My calendar doesn’t run me and my technology doesn’t suck my time away into a vortex of nothingness.

And the most ironic thing, my business is flourishing!

Stop.

Look at your time.

Do you need to create some space for some massive ‘inaction’?

Stop doing.

Just be.

You.

Be Restored

Have you ever had a weekend experience that created such a personal breakthrough that you knew your life nor anyone you loved lives would ever be the same again?

I was at a business event, but it was more like a personal development course personally for me and my business partner, ‘Ned’.

The truths that poured into me went a little something like this:

Be a professional encourager whose hands can drip hope.

Create a culture of honour.

Be ‘unreasonable’.  Do NOT let anyone or anything reason you out of your core values or vision.

Successful people have healthy boundaries.  They know time is valuable.

Lies make us shrink.

It is time to shine like a diamond in your own way.

Be vulnerable.

Be open.

Be learning.

And growing.

The best investments is ourselves, our health and our personal growth.  This is even better than real estate.

Hope.

Freedom.

Favour.

Let go of your expectations.  They don’t serve you.

Redemption.

Sevenfold.

Restored.

A river rushes to the lowest point. This is the place to be.

Unforced rhythms of grace.

Follow the fruit.

Joy and judgement can’t live on the same street.

You only earn what you are.  Income rarely exceeds personal growth.

You get what you give.

Have gratitude.

Don’t blame.

Nor  justify.

Just lie humbly on the ground and see who stumbles by.

Offer hope.

And encouragement.

And be.

Just be.

Me.

(What words or sentences resonated or popped of the blog reel for you?

Notice.

Ponder.

Be.)

Be Finding Freedom at the Fair

Have you ever found yourself doing something you have done many times before but in a totally different way?

You can experience something as simple as going to the fall fair and find freedom.

Previously, we have gone to the fall fair and cringed at the prices of the food, rides and even the entry.  We felt we were twenty dollared to death.  It was painful.  We went because we felt it was valuable but the value we got from our money wasn’t worth it overall.

This year we saw the value.

Our minds were free.

The money we spent was worth every twenty dollar bill we spent.

Smiles.

Hugs from friends.

Special fair food.

Roller Coasters.

The Ferris wheel.

 Children will grow up.

Beloved Nana’s may die.

But no one can take away  your memories.
And don’t let anyone steal your dreams

Be finding freedom in all places, especially at the fall fair this year

Be Leaning into a New Season

When you find change happening all around you,

Lean in.

When you create change in your life,

Lean in.

When you find yourself grieving a great loss,

Lean in.

Lean in to those who love, support and encourage you.

We don’t need to get crazy busy, decide to renovate our homes and put our heads down in futility,

Lean in.

We don’t need to create a “to-do” list that even Martha Stewart and her team couldn’t conquer,

Lean in.

We don’t need to stuff our faces, fill our throats with alcohol or mutter words of negativity to everyone we see.

Lean in.

Lean in to those habits that lift you up, bring you energy, and help you adapt.

Lean in to the five people that will help you.

Exercise.

Read.

Meditate.

Pray.

Laugh.

Cry.

Run.

Sit.

Be.

You.

Leaning in.

Lean in to a new season.

Allow the leaves to change.

The acorns to fall.

The bulbs to be planted and enjoyed during a new season to come.

Whether we want it or not, seasons will change.

Choose to lean in.

Be Looking for Some Feedback on my Table (of Contents)!

My dear, sweet and intelligent readers, could you give me some feedback on the table of contents for the book that I am writing?

I have given you a basic outline and I am wondering if you could provide feedback through the comments below and via my email at jj_cann@yahoo.com.   If you give me your email, I will add you to a list of the first people to hear about when the book hits amazon.  I plan to do a ‘quiet’ release on amazon some time before Christmas.

Be Knowing What DRIVES You!

Have you ever wanted something so bad that all you could do was talk about it, think about it, dream about it?

Perhaps you wanted a pony as a child.

Maybe it was to make it to the Olympics.

I wonder if it was thinking about getting married.

What was that “something” that just drove you into perpetual conscious and unconscious thought which caused you massive action?

This morning it started with a question from a personal development course that I am doing: What drives people?

IMG_1624[1]

Luckily I have an inner circle that is very tolerant of my philosophical questions coming out of thin air, so I started by texting one person.

Princess P ended up saying: “People that I love and enjoy, nature, adventures… Celebrations and traditions power me.”

Next I texted another person, Dr. K to hear what she had to say: “Before coffee: coffee”. (I must admit that I get up so early and excited for each day that I forget people may still be sleeping.)  After coffee, she text back and said, “Health and Happiness”. And then Dr. K asked her mom and she said, “Live in the moment and look to the future… not stuck in the past with regrets.  Also strive for excellence not perfection.”

Then I texted a few people more because I was oh so curious.  I love PEOPLE and I loved hearing what drives them.

One friend shared that she was contemplating this exact question.

Awesome A shared, “Creating a loving home for my family.”

Double D (the one who keeps giving me back my hat!), said, “My family” and

RvZ said “Work, play, laughter, kinda combo. Achievement. Getting stuff done. But the days that I spend in nature are pretty top.”

When you have great conversations like that all day long and ponder such a question like “What drives you?” the answers come clearly.

What drives me?

Harmony.

Freedom.

I seek harmony in the world around me through relationships, nature, and within myself.

I move towards freedom to be my authentic self, freedom poured out for others to be exactly who they are, time and financial freedom for my family and friends.

What drives you?

Here is my “drive” story for today: Before dinner, my boys, spied a digger down end of our road.   They had this incredible drive to go and see this digger.  The talked about this digger and wondered why it was there throughout the entire dinner. They ate without complaint and then they were off out the door without a word, just so that they could get an eye on this digger.

Drive.

Target.

Success.

The boys reached their target!

IMG_1625[1]

Our brain is a cybernetic system and unless you pick a target, your unconscious brain will choose something for you.   Think about these three boys and yourself as a child, what drove you?  What did you love to talk about, think about, dream about?

Today, why don’t you find what drives you and then choose the target?

Go for it!

You “Cann” do it.

Be Hitting the Targets I Set!

One of the best hockey players in the world, Wayne Gretzky, was once quoted as saying: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!”

Before I wasn’t even in the game.

I was working very hard.

Going no where.

I was floating.

Listening to all the chatter around me.

Now, I am listening to the still inner voice inside of ME.

In my life right now I am taking a TON of shots.

Saying “yes” to new opportunities.

Being open to the possibilities.

Allowing myself to feel deeply and go deeper still.

This week, I was on the phone with M, someone that I have known for almost ten years… She is twenty-something and she is a FORCE.

I was sharing with M my last sixteen week journey of setting goals and achieving them.

Here is a photo of this first journey:

IMG_1558[1]

Now after a very fun sixteen weeks of achieving many goals, I was in a quandary. Weight loss is no longer one of my MAJOR goals.  Hmmmmm… Now what?  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with this second challenge and I expressed my ‘unknowing’ to friend/business partner.

Later in the day, she send me her ideas via text.   My ‘unknowing’ brought out a ‘knowledge’ in her that profoundly helped me and spurred me on.  Isn’t it awesome that she even thought of having “party tricks” as a goal!!

Here is what I came up with because of her awesome inspiration:

IMG_1566[1]

And here is me getting started to see where I am at: (It wasn’t pretty!)

IMG_1597[1]

4 push-ups (the last one was with VERY shaky arms)

No chin-ups (I could barely hang there for 2 seconds)

And NOW I am off moving towards the targets that I set for myself.

The ULTIMATE goal is to be the healthiest ME and live the most energetic, positive-infused days of my life with my brood of boys, family and incredible circle of friends.
