Be Living In Between

⚡️I had always thought that if you worked hard enough, you will get where you want to go.   Magically, everything would just all fall into place.  Nope I am still living “in between”.

⚡️I had always thought there was a magic wand where “poof” healing would come after my mom had died and all would be well.  But all isn’t well. I feel things incredible deeply when I find out a friend’s mom has cancer or a preschool friend has cancer or a surgeon treats a friend poorly, just like what happened to my mom.  Sometime “in between” just sucks.

⚡️I had always thought that if I did ‘my work’, communicated kindly and directly that all would be well.  I thought my relationships would flourish and we would all sing “kombiya” together.   I have some relationships with my family of origin that I couldn’t even consider “in between”, they are non-existent.

⚡️I had always thought that if I reached certain goals in my life that all would be well.  I envisioned that life would be more fun and that there would be an ease or flow to it.  I have reached those goals, but I still sit “in between” as those goals have now changed.

THIS I NOW KNOW FOR SURE…

✨ I am “doing less” throughout my days, but I have never experienced so many more incredible opportunities coming into my life. These “in between” places are BEAUTIFUL.    I have more quiet times, more moments of “no coincidences” where I have to lie down and less ‘busyness’.

✨ My healing is a journey not a destination to be tackled. Actually, I don’t even know where my healing journey is going to take me next! Being “in between” the healing journey creates MIRACLES.   It has deepened my relationships, helped me focus on what’s important and allowed me the privilege to see into the beautiful hearts of women like Heather, whom I met today.

✨ Relationships are like a game of baseball, each person needs to be willing to catch the ball.  I have been playing a ton of catch with my “people’s” back to me.  Imagine a baseball game looking like that?  You can only apologize so much, talk so much, and try to get someone to play for so long.  “In between” relationships are RAD because they mean I am REALLY free to be me.

✨ It is truly each moment that makes life sweet…moment after moment.   Every day I love savouring the weather, the age of my boys, the laughter at myself when things go wrong, the watching as our dreams unfold.  Step by step, one lunch box making, wrestling match breaking, toy taking and sheer joy making day at a time.  “In between” is a SWEET place to be.

Life is powerful when we are awake to the processes “in between”

To the beauty and spaces that surrounds us every day.

To people’s eyes.

To people’s stories.

To the sheer grandeur of the non-coincidences that unfold before me.

The presence of God.

Doing less.

Being more.

Healing and…

Being broken.

Playing catch.

Facing forward.

Leaning in.

Moment by moment.

In between.

Awake.

Savouring.

Tasting.

Enjoying.

Knowing for sure that RIGHT NOW…

I am ENOUGH!

Living “in between”

Be The Reason, Not The Excuse

“I don’t have time.”

“My children are too little.”

“My work is too difficult.”

“I don’t have a bathing suit.”

“My home is too far away.”

Excuses pouring through our thoughts and out of our mouths.

Another excuse to do something that you really want to do.

At 6:15am this morning.

My son taught me about the importance of turning my excuses into my reasons.

At 6:15am this morning.

Looking like this carrying his towel and goggles into the swimming pool:

IMG_4782[1]

He had watched me compete in a triathlon on the weekend.

He decided he wanted to start training too!

At 6:15am.

Imagine if I had used my children as an excuse not to train.

Imagine if I would have used my busyness as an excuse not to sign-up.

Imagine if I would have used my body as a excuse not to put my shoes or bathing suit on.

My children, my life, my body are MY REASON!

This is why I do what I do!

What excuses will you choose to turn into your reasons?

Imagine what possibilities could happen!

WOOOOOOAH.

Smooch, Joanna

Be a Dream Car

I fell in love with a car!

Way back in 2001.

I had the great privilege to commute with an amazing group of human beings to a small outlying “VIlle” to teach.  I taught  thirty-three grade six and seven students and had a third of the school in my class, even though there were 6 teachers on staff.  The school was declining in size!  I was fortunate to learn many new things, fall in love with my students and the staff and find my dream car.

IMG_3638[1].JPG

Is it weird that I had never had a dream car before?

Is is strange that my dream was a van?

Perhaps, God knew about the brood of boys that were coming into our life six years later.

I have fallen in love with how he prepares me for “events” in my life.

Day by day.

Person by person.

Story by story.

In 2001, we commuted in a brand, spanking new 2001 grey Honda Odyssey.   On those 5:45am pick-ups, this vehicle was luxury.  With its captain seats and personal water bottles, I thought that I had it made! And that was how my dream was created.

One day.

Some how.

I would own a 2001 Honda Odyssey.

Ten years later, in 2011, we decided to look for a Honda Odyssey as we awaited the birth of our third and three car seats would not fit in the back of our current vehicle.

Enter stage left, a beautiful grey 2001 Honda Odyssey that we could pay cash for and enjoy every day until last Friday.

She decided to stop on the side of the highway.

Just like that!   She sat there for three days while we pondered and prayed and wandered and wondered.

A few friends sat together in our wonderings.

And we are so grateful!

This van taught me how to dream, about cars.

Now she is reminding me how to dream in others ways.

Perhaps our life is meant to be with one car?

I wonder what will happen in the next weeks so that we could pay cash for a new car?

I am excited.

I am leaning in with anticipation.

I am dreaming.

I am so grateful for this dream car!

Be Miraculously Meditating

I have begun a miraculous journey in my mind.

Led by many loving, successful mentors.

Meditation.

What does this word conjure up for you?

I never thought I would be doing it!

For me?

It is allowing my thoughts to come and go, but always trying to come back to the present moment

To being.

To breathe.

Have you ever tried this before?

WOAH!  I can see why successful human beings have this as part of their morning routine.

IMG_2644[2]

November 2nd, 2015, I began a journey with Oprah and Deepak Chopra at the helm, leading the way as I declutter my mind and look at my beliefs.   This short twenty minute intentional “mind” time, is definitely getting some of the cobwebs from the corners shaken off.   My mind feels lighter and simpler.  The thoughts no longer zing around, they are down to a slow zap!

My body is the healthiest it has ever been and now my mind appears to be moving into the same direction.

Health.

Mindfulness.

Being.

Present.

Meditation.

Being.

Me.

Be in Massive ‘Inaction’!

I had a breakthrough weekend at a business conference last Saturday.  It was truly incredible for the inspiration for action that it provided.  I realized that when you go to conferences, you need to create an action plan to help follow through and to stop from becoming adrenal junkie conference hoppers. Just hopping from conference to conference looking for that next ‘high’ or breakthrough.

Conferences in Las Vegas.

90 Day Game Plans.

Massive Action.

Goal setting and vision creating.

I was so inspired that I decided to create a plan of ‘Inaction’!

Less action.

More Focus.

Less doing.

More being.

My phone now sits on the fridge between 2:30pm and 7:00pm EVERY day.

My computer is off unless I decide to sit down for 15 minutes and give ‘er with focused, concrete goals to be achieved.

My ‘work’ is done in chunks of time lumped  together and spread throughout  the day when it works for me.

My life is back in balance and MASSIVE action is coming from my ‘Inaction’.

I am connecting with people on a deeper, less interrupted level.

My boys and I are reading more, hanging out more and I am more present.

I own my own schedule again.

My calendar doesn’t run me and my technology doesn’t suck my time away into a vortex of nothingness.

And the most ironic thing, my business is flourishing!

Stop.

Look at your time.

Do you need to create some space for some massive ‘inaction’?

Stop doing.

Just be.

You.

Be Restored

Have you ever had a weekend experience that created such a personal breakthrough that you knew your life nor anyone you loved lives would ever be the same again?

I was at a business event, but it was more like a personal development course personally for me and my business partner, ‘Ned’.

The truths that poured into me went a little something like this:

Be a professional encourager whose hands can drip hope.

Create a culture of honour.

Be ‘unreasonable’.  Do NOT let anyone or anything reason you out of your core values or vision.

Successful people have healthy boundaries.  They know time is valuable.

Lies make us shrink.

It is time to shine like a diamond in your own way.

Be vulnerable.

Be open.

Be learning.

And growing.

The best investments is ourselves, our health and our personal growth.  This is even better than real estate.

Hope.

Freedom.

Favour.

Let go of your expectations.  They don’t serve you.

Redemption.

Sevenfold.

Restored.

A river rushes to the lowest point. This is the place to be.

Unforced rhythms of grace.

Follow the fruit.

Joy and judgement can’t live on the same street.

You only earn what you are.  Income rarely exceeds personal growth.

You get what you give.

Have gratitude.

Don’t blame.

Nor  justify.

Just lie humbly on the ground and see who stumbles by.

Offer hope.

And encouragement.

And be.

Just be.

Me.

(What words or sentences resonated or popped of the blog reel for you?

Notice.

Ponder.

Be.)

Be a Tour Guide not a Travel Agent

I have a daily choice to make on how I want to live my life.

My life.

Impacting others.

My choice.

On how others impact me.

I have made the decision that I am going to live the rest of my days as a TOUR GUIDE.

I will be a leader.

I will speak clearly and kindly.

I will explore new places with excitement.

I will be show love and forgiveness to those on this journey with me.

I will try all sorts of new food.

I will jump into new activities.

I will not sit in my desk as a travel agent, but I will lead the tour!

Today, I unveil my new website www.beenough.me.

I will be your tour guide on this journey into being “enough”!

Here I am with my boys:

IMG_7180

I am taking 100% responsibility for MY LIFE.

I am going to neither blame nor complain.

I will continue to LOVE deeply those placed around me.

I will listen.

I will ask.

I will be overflowing with gratitude that my basic needs of food, clothing and housing are completely met.

I am going to live my dream and create a clear vision for my family.

I will allow my path to wander.

I will believe.

I will know that what others think of me is none of my business.

I will set goals and create small daily tasks for myself.

I will look for others who have done what I am going to do.

I will link arms with those who inspire, encourage and love me as I am.

I AM releasing the BRAKES.

Here we go….

Be Riding Waves of Gratitude

Over two years ago, I started down a road that I never knew I would go down.  My energetic, athletic mom had cancer take over her body.  It pummelled her, humbled our family and eventually took her body on Boxing Day six months later.

I rode waves of grief.

Face planting.

Knee crawling.

Life stealing.

Grief.

I had never known pain like this.

I had never lived a day without my previous mama.

But I did.

And I am.

I was at the beach a few days ago and was watching this:

And then I noticed a woman sitting under a tree, just like my mom used to, watching the boys play in the sand. I would have felt paralyzed by this before but now I just found gratitude in my heart for this beautiful woman who reminded me of my mama.

I am living.

Living with abundance.

Living a life of my dreams.

I am continually surrounded by saints on this earth.

Friends who walk with me.

Strangers who bless me with their presence.

Friends who LOVE my boys.

Friends who ask ‘how are you?’ And wait to hear the answer.

Right now in my life, I am riding the waves of gratitude.

It hits me every day at how blessed I truly am.

I feel extremely grateful for who I am surrounded by, all that I have and all that I can do.

The possibilities are truly only limited by my mind.

My opportunities seem to flow into my dreaming mind and humbled heart.

I am free.

I am flying.

I am riding waves of gratitude.

Be Shocked at my Swimsuit

Day by day.

I never realized how my daily decisions could create so many changes and breakthrough moments in my life.

One year ago…

…I was never going back to teaching… But I found my dream job.

…I was never going to ‘survive’ my mom’s death… But I did and my life has never been richer.

…I was determined not to ‘give up’ on relationships… But I let them go and am finding freedom to live.

… I was thirty pounds heavier, working out hard and wasn’t losing weight… But I am partnering with the company of my dream and have never been healthier.

Dude! Daily choices do create huge changes.

The proof is in the swimsuit.

Shocked.

Exhilarated.

Excited.

Savouring this moment.

Look at ALL that extra fabric.

Be enough, one mouthful, one relationship, one swimsuit at a time.
