Be Burning The “To Do” List

How many moments have I missed by the “to do” list that runs in my mind?

How many words have just floated by me as I stare at my “to do” list on the counter?

What am I missing when I attend to my ‘to do’s”?

This endless list that gives me a perception that I am fruitful, productive and moving in the ‘right’ direction.

Right now I choose:

To stand still.

Allowing time to float by.

Having no schedule.

Nothing “to do”.

For a few days, I have the gift of sunburning the “to do’s” to the basics – food, water, sleep are the only necessities we have.

 Time to notice.

 A season of slowing down.

A time to play.

A season to see.

An opportunity to be.

Myself.

Imperfect.

Unproductive.

Human being.

Be.

Me.

Be Having a Week of Cousins

We have had lots of love pop into our hood this week! Thanks family for reaching into our world. Two sets of cousins I haven’t met their children before and another family we haven’t seen together in about a year.

I love it when everything comes together.

Full of gratitude for the Cousin love this week:

Sam, Terry & Dani (almost 3) from outside Cowtown

Be a Golf Camper in 2014

It always amazes me the memories that we hold dear to us. I love hearing peoples stories for this very reason.

My boys memories are especially sweet for me because they often have a profound deepness about them and sometimes they are seriously silly!

Last year I blogged about our oldest experiencing a golf camp here.

Here are both of our boys at golf camp today.  JC is seven and CC is almost five.  (We snuck him in!) They were very excited to go together and ride in the golf cart, putting the ball down hill very carefully and driving the ball towards a yellow flag.

The boys are waiting for camp to begin.  Papa is in the background chatting to the instructor.  20140702-213819-77899966.jpg

The boys were ready and in the car before any of us this morning… thank goodness the car was in the garage or they would have had to get out because it was hot, hot, hot today! 20140702-213817-77897893.jpg

The boys getting ready to ride the cart down to the driving range.  20140702-213823-77903218.jpgJC brought up a memory from last year.  Nana had walked down to the driving range to watch him hit the ball.  At the end of the session Nana decided to race the golf cart back up the hill.  JC remembered her running fast.  And in true Nana fashion, she won the race!

How can this only be a year ago?  How could she have been in the hospital only a month later? And DEAD five months later?

Memories.

Tumbling forth.

Beautiful, driven Nana.

Boys who cherished her presence.

Loving.

Determined.

Encouraging.

Present.

Nana.

Be Tie Dying

20140625-210412-75852996.jpg

Happy Canada Day!  We are wearing the tie dye shirts that we made for JC’s seventh birthday party.

All day I have been singing part of our national anthem, “God keep our land, glorious and free!”

We swam, sang O Canada while eating cupcakes, visited Papa in Vtown, ate together and enjoyed movies together.  I don’t think we will make it to the fireworks, but we are very grateful to be together sporting our tie dye Canada day t-shirts!

Be In A Restful State

I feel that I have a healthy understanding of what my strengths and limitations are. I know that one area I need to work on is learning how to “rest”.

I think the physical posture of rest is important for me to learn. I have endured numbness, tingling and muscular fatigue in my limbs and face for almost four years. I think learning to physically, mentally and emotionally rest is the key to my healing.

Day two in our new house and Sexy Neck modelled “rest” for me well, even with our three boys mulling around.

Be A Home Depot Kid Constructor

We went to the hardware store to look at toilets and we ended up with a great activity for the boys.

They got to participate in a FREE kids program constructing a car.  Not only did they get to hammer away, they got a free Home Depot apron, hard hat, ruler, pencil and a car that they had put together themselves.

Here are my proud boys.

Afterwards, my oldest even showed the youngest how to put together his car.  Mommy couldn’t manage all three boys with hammers, so the two big boys made their cars while baby OC got lost in the ride’m lawn mower cage.  Yes, I did have my first screaming mommy with a lost child moment.

Learning in action!  Hammer, hammer, hammer.

Happy Summer!
