Be Saying Goodbye to the Backup Boyfriend

You remember in high school when you dated that guy?

That guy that you kind of knew was not the ideal match for you?

That guy that made you look around and think, “Well, if this doesn’t work out, no worries, I could date  _______________ (insert name of another guy)!”

Do you remember your backup boyfriend?  That OTHER guy that was your friend and that you knew you could always fall back on.  Perhaps its the same backup boyfriend that you made a pact with to marry if you were both single at thirty?

Well tonight, I am saying goodbye to a whole bunch of backup boyfriends.  There are no more backups for me.  I am taking 100% responsibility for my life.   My decisions are mine.  I run my thoughts.  I create my actions.  I can do whatever I want.  I am closing the book on a whole bunch of backups in my mind!

Goodbye to my beautiful backups:

  • My job that was ‘safe’ but not fulfilling, but had a good pension and benefits too!
  • The stuff I keep holding on to because I may “miss it”!
  • A mindset with certain family members that they will always be there if I “need them”!
  • Clothing or workout equipment that I keep around because I may wear it or use it one day!
  • People in my life that are beautiful to look at, but really don’t add any value.  People who aren’t fun nor stretching themselves.
  • Food that stuffs me down, rather than fueling me to rise up.
  • Trying to swim close to shore because “you never know”.
  • Any backups that you could add as you let this land on you?

I can no longer doubt my abilities relying on the backups to help me move forward.   I need to believe 100% in myself, letting go of the backup mindset!

Doubt and belief cannot live in the same space that I am creating.

Growing.

Without backup.

With excitement.

With gratitude.

For all that I am and all that I can do.

Being enough.

Being me!

Be Wondering “What to Wear!” NO MORE!

Today is another epic day…. as I head into the second autumn season of life without my mom, I am stretching myself to do things I have never done and I am asking for a ton of help.

On my knees, humbled, baking cakes and asking for help.

Most people don’t know this, but my mom was the force behind my wardrobe for most of my life.  Every Christmas and birthday, I was very, very excited to see what my mom had picked out for me.  (Well, maybe I wasn’t so excited during those teen years!)  For the last two years, my wardrobe has been floundering a little bit.  When you open the bottom drawer of your dresser and wonder, “How did all those black yoga pants and tights get in there?”, you know that you need an intervention.   You know when Sexy Neck dawns the doors of Lulu to buy some undies, that things are getting a bitter tattered and worn.

Today, I am getting a wardrobe intervention.

I have hired a professional!

A person who comes into your home.

Flings open the closet and dresser drawers.

And takes a close look at what is going on in there!

I have done a whole garbage truck full of inner work and now I am very humbled to have Michelle from “What to Wear” come to help me create a matching outside.   I want a suit of armour to wear as I venture into new realms of possibility and begin living my amazing dreams as an author, professional network marketer and present Mama, always and forever.  I am not sure how Michelle is going to get this six foot frame into something other than jeans, summer skirts and black yoga pants, but I am very open to see what she has in store.

Plus, I am excited to never have to ask “What to wear” again?

She even asked me to fill out a form ahead of time… you know that we are off to a great start because I do love my forms!

Be Sporty Spice

I have an issue with clothes – I don’t really love them. Nothing ever fits. After having three babies in six years and being pregnant or breast feeding for seven your guess is as good as mine as to what size this flabby figure would be.

Actually, I think being a woman and six feet tall makes finding clothing difficult. If I lived in the good old USA, I am a medium, but up here in Western Canada where clothes are made for a more Asian (aka petite) market, I am a grand old XL.

This morning as I got dressed, I had a light bulb moment. I was searching through my suitcase (yup one more day of suitcase living before we move into our house), when suddenly i just grabbed for undies, a sports bra, a tank top some comfy shorts, flip flops and we were off to our new house and neighbourhood. p>

Brace yourself new neighbours, six foot tall and slightly overweight Sporty Spice is in the hood. A can’t sing, but boy can I be loud. And with three wee boys and Sexy Neck as part of my “group”, we can sure create a ruckus. (Blog friends, check back her to see what ensues.)

Hello me! A new opportunity for me to be myself and not to try to be Posh or Ginger or one of the other people that aren’t me.
