Be Riding Waves of Gratitude

Over two years ago, I started down a road that I never knew I would go down.  My energetic, athletic mom had cancer take over her body.  It pummelled her, humbled our family and eventually took her body on Boxing Day six months later.

I rode waves of grief.

Face planting.

Knee crawling.

Life stealing.

Grief.

I had never known pain like this.

I had never lived a day without my previous mama.

But I did.

And I am.

I was at the beach a few days ago and was watching this:

And then I noticed a woman sitting under a tree, just like my mom used to, watching the boys play in the sand. I would have felt paralyzed by this before but now I just found gratitude in my heart for this beautiful woman who reminded me of my mama.

I am living.

Living with abundance.

Living a life of my dreams.

I am continually surrounded by saints on this earth.

Friends who walk with me.

Strangers who bless me with their presence.

Friends who LOVE my boys.

Friends who ask ‘how are you?’ And wait to hear the answer.

Right now in my life, I am riding the waves of gratitude.

It hits me every day at how blessed I truly am.

I feel extremely grateful for who I am surrounded by, all that I have and all that I can do.

The possibilities are truly only limited by my mind.

My opportunities seem to flow into my dreaming mind and humbled heart.

I am free.

I am flying.

I am riding waves of gratitude.

Be Living a Dream

Our home is in another’s hand.

We are roaming around our region in Grandma and a Papa’s truck and camper.

No plans.

No agenda.

Just living in the moments that create our days and make our lives.

It’s a dream of ours to do this.

Creating a bit of financial freedom through sharing our home.

Making carefree memories for our boys.

Day one is complete with a stop for a paddle and kayak.

Throw in a post-hockey camp tailgate party provided by friends celebrating their sixteenth wedding anniversary.

A stop at a beach then up the road for ice cream.

Now we are tucked in and ready for sleep on our friends beautiful acreage with crickets singing us a nightly toon.

Don’t be surprised if you see our rig pull into your driveway if you are living close by….

No plans.

No responsibilities.

One moment.

One day.

One life.

Living a dream with my boys and friends.

Be Believing in You!

If we don’t believe in ourselves first, Who will?

If we deeply believe in ourselves, Who could stop us?

Belief is a choice.

Belief is an attitude.

Belief is power.

Belief is unstoppable.

I am not the most gifted nor talented person in my fields, but I do have unshakeable belief.

Belief in God.

Belief that I am uniquely made.

Belief I have gifts to share.

Belief I am ENOUGH!

Be Finding Flow

Oh I want to rap this post, but my words will have to suffice.

Flow.

Flowing.

Flow ‘in.

I am in the flow.

My flow is coming in the form of authentic communication.

Communication that is not trying to change someone by resonate WITH someone.

Communication that flows like a piano duet.

One part of the duet can be playing the low notes but they stay in harmony wherever they are in the song.

The people that continue to come into my life, whether it is new or old friends, are part of this beautiful flow that exists in my life right now.

Nothing holding me back.

Playing notes side by side.

Highs and lows.

All flowing together.

Where will you find your flow today?

Will it be in communication?

In movement?

In music?

Alone?

Be find ‘in ya flow!

Peace out!

Be Saying ‘Yes’!

I have many incredible mentors in my life.

Women.

Men.

Children.

Time.

Life.

Death.

One incredible mentor that I am blessed to know is Linda Lou, my old Principal.

Often when I am living life, her sage wisdom will come into my head.

Last weekend was one of those marvelous moments!

Linda Lou ALWAYS tried to find a way to say ‘yes’ to every person, adult or child that she worked with.  She was an incredible negotiator.  She listened well and she came up with amazing solutions so it was a yes for everyone.

After a few days of feeling like a drill sergeant with my boys: fill your water bottle, grab your hombag, where is your helmet…. I decided to say ‘yes on Sunday.

First I said yes to post-breakfast painting:

and then my oldest wanted to make a brunch buffet for everyone.  (CC had shared earlier in the week that he loved our resort in hawaii because he could take whatever he wanted at the breakfast buffet.)

And then we finished off with some sewing:

Just say ‘yes’ and see what happens.

Creativity?

Freedom?

Joy?

Laughter?

New adventures?

I wonder what will come our way next!

Be Me with My Peeps

I love people.

Always have.

Always will.

Them my peeps.

I would not have survived the last sixteen months without.

You know who you are!

I was told that the hole my mom left in my life would never heal but that people would lean and the hole wouldn’t be so humongous.

I agree with this analogy.

Because of my peeps.

The strange thing that happened on this journey the last sixteen months is that I also learned to be okay with myself.

No more people pleasing.

Be with people because it is pleasing.

 Using my gifts.

Being quiet when I need to.

Saying ‘no’ and being okay.

Letting go of relationships that are hurtful and judgemental.

Allowing myself to feel.

Allowing myself to be me.

I am forever grateful for the gifts my mom has given me through her life and her death.

I have never been so blessed in my entire life than I am right now!

Be Reading Signs

I haven’t laughed so hard…

My dad and Sexy Neck were in the front of the van yesterday.  The road we were heading north on was closed due to a traffic accident.

We spent over an hour on a road trip that could have taken twenty minutes, but oh was it a hilarious trip.

Dad and Sexy Neck were on the top of their game reading EVERY SINGLE SIGN WE PASSED!   Have you ever noticed that ‘older’ men tend to do this?  I had NEVER noticed until I heard Sexy Neck explaim from the front seat,

“I am officially ‘old’.  I am reading signs out loud as I drive. And they aren’t important signs.”

Hahaha!

Simple times.

Out of routine.

Shaking it up.

Sharing insight.

Doing ‘normal’ things.

Off to enjoy some pineapple…

Be Wondering About Words

Why are people mean and rude?

Short with words and sometimes crude?
Why do we decide to speak this way?
Without compassion with what we say?
How does the tongue twist and hurt?
It can make anyone feel like dirt?
Why do we withhold our words sometime?
While other days they are like a chime?
Words can be cruel.
Make me look like a fool.
They can lift someone up.
Even make me spill my cup.
Sweet sentences to soothe my ears.
Little ditties to give me the gears.
How I love to play with words!
Let’s use them to build up, anything else is absurd.

Building.
Building up.
Built.
Built up.
With words.
Don’t be absurd.
You turd.
