The rhythm of the school day is done.
Now it is time to have some unstructured fun.
Climbing walls with brothers three.
Dear God, please help me!
When our first born was wee, Sexy Neck and I made the decision about which physical literacy activities our children would do: swimming, skating (yup, we are Canadian!) and gymnastics were a must.
Building blocks.
Healthy skills.
Lifelong physical movements.
Six years later, we say goodbye to another season of gymnastics.
It ain’t cheap, but it is worth all the five cent. (We don’t have pennies here anymore.).
Watching our three year old gain confidence.
Hearing our five year olds laughter and seeing his amazing flexibility.
Sitting in awe as our eight year old flips through the air with or without a harness.
Daily choices.
Become yearly decisions.
And lifetime habits.
Raising healthy, strong, physically and mentally literate boys.
I have many incredible mentors in my life.
Women.
Men.
Children.
Time.
Life.
Death.
One incredible mentor that I am blessed to know is Linda Lou, my old Principal.
Often when I am living life, her sage wisdom will come into my head.
Last weekend was one of those marvelous moments!
Linda Lou ALWAYS tried to find a way to say ‘yes’ to every person, adult or child that she worked with. She was an incredible negotiator. She listened well and she came up with amazing solutions so it was a yes for everyone.
After a few days of feeling like a drill sergeant with my boys: fill your water bottle, grab your hombag, where is your helmet…. I decided to say ‘yes on Sunday.
First I said yes to post-breakfast painting:
and then my oldest wanted to make a brunch buffet for everyone. (CC had shared earlier in the week that he loved our resort in hawaii because he could take whatever he wanted at the breakfast buffet.)
And then we finished off with some sewing:
Just say ‘yes’ and see what happens.
Creativity?
Freedom?
Joy?
Laughter?
New adventures?
I wonder what will come our way next!
Be Dressing up as… Your guess is as good as mine.
Anyone have any ideas?
It’s the little things.
Old clothes.
Shared food.
Good friends.
Simple times.
This is all I’ve got:
And this is my CC at his Kindergarten Mother’s Day tea:
Spring is here.
A new season.
New things to do.
New games to play.
Soccer Saturday for CC and JC!
It’s a windy day here on May the first, but it is not the wind that had blown me away.
It is the incredible people that surround me closely this year at home, far away in thought and through words posted on Facebook. I am a bit gobsmacked to be honest.
After the deep sorrow of my last birthday celebrating my first birthday without my mom, I had expected to be sitting in a mental pit today. I expected to be hit in the chest with sadness.
Isn’t it great when we continue to see that our expectations are only expectations?
Today, I am soaring through the air.
Surprised by a pond that I thought was a broken sewer pipe. My boys lovingly made this pond last weekend as I sold tea.
We even put fish in the pond!

Surrounded at home by my wee boys who are under the weather.
Soaking up the love from all the incredible people God has chosen to surround me with.
I am blessed!
Soaring.
Surprised.
Surrounded.
Soaking it up!
Thank you to everyone for truly blowing me away. I am in a bit of disbelief and I am full of gratitude.
Thank you Sexy Neck for leading our boys and for loving me. (Wild and crazy ideas and all!)
Out of nowhere.
The boys want long hair.
No haircuts for three months.
Post-bath hair combing sessions are now mandatory.
Here’s the latest session:
