Celebrating our oldest lad.
Seven years since his first breath.
Seven years since I felt his skin and kissed his cheeks.
Seven years of holding, hugging and setting free.
Here are a few moments we shared celebrating seven:
Yesterday was my beautiful mom’s birthday. When we were away, we felt Nana’s presence and spoke about what we could do to celebrate her birthday.
As a family we decided we wanted to bake her a meringue cake. OC helped me.
Our nana loved biking, so we thought a bike ride would be fun.

We ate breakfast for dinner. Breakfast was mom’s favourite meal.
We sent balloons to the heavens.
Lastly, we sang happy birthday and enjoyed Nana’s wonderful cake.
Happy birthday mom! I love you so very much. Your presence is felt more and more each day. You continue to be such a gift and a caring mom.
Heavenward.
Flying.
Sweetness.
Life.
Love.
Peace.
And glory, a new baby girl was born on my mom’s birthday. My cousin’s J and M gave birth on March 30th.
Gratitude.
Joy.
Anticipation.
Peace.
We started our Christmas decorating today. It was a team effort.
Sexy Neck had the idea of wrapping a picture. He helped me balance the lights in the mantle and tried to figure out a few Christmas carols on the piano by ear. (How does he do that?)
JC helped with the garland, bows and lights.
CC helped with the advent calendar.
OC picked out the Christmas books.
All the boys drew Christmas pictures and put the wise men downstairs to start their journey to our nativity scene in Bethlehem our kitchen. The shepherd is on the upper shelf because he was on the hills above Bethlehem when the angels visited him. (At least that’s what the boys told me.)
Welcome to our home:
I love Christmas! It gets more and more interesting and exciting as our traditions evolve.
Our traditions:
We have our gingerbread dough in the fridge ready to make men. My mom started decorating gingerbread men when JC was wee!
We have an advent calendar that the boys get a small ornament and chocolate each of the twenty-four days before Christmas.
We have a nativity scene where baby Jesus arrives on Christmas Day and the three kings/wisemen arrive in January.
We decorate with lots of lights to take away the winter darkness.
We hang our stockings. This is the first year we have a fireplace mantle to hang them on. We actually have a two-sided fireplace so we had to have a discussion on where they should go. My mom made the stockings.
Do you have any traditions to share?
May you enjoy a restful, peaceful and beautiful advent/Christmas season.
Me: Today is Papa’s birthday!!!!!!!
Boys: woohoo!
JC: How old is Papa?
Me: How old do you think he is?
JC: Five
Me: Well, you are six buddy and your oldest cousin, Justy, is sixteen. What do you think now?
JC: Hmmmmm…. Seventeen!
Happy seventeenth birthday dad! You are incredibly youthful, amazing with the boys and very generous.
We love you very much.

Dad got OC a musical fire truck card for his second birthday. We bought him a Beach Boys musical card. Everyone loved it, especially OC!

And the icing on the cake, my first hug and kiss for my mama. I haven’t wanted to get close to her since I have been unwell for six weeks!
My man is a man! I mean truly a man. He is the leader of our family and I respect him immensely. He is an idea guy, an athlete, a play-by ear guitarist, a hardworker, an amazing father and a loving husband! I believe that he can do anything he sets his mind to! So often I help him set his mind to things. tee heee… The one thing that I always love him to do is to write on our entry chalkboard to honour our boys birthdays. Here are 2 of daddy chalkboard signs this year:
Thanks hon, for being a man!
