Be Creating a Family

Family?

What does that mean for you?

Does it trigger tears? Does it make you smile? Does it fill your heart? Does it make you want to run a mile?

Family is a beautifully, imperfect thing.

No mother not father is perfect.

No family is without mistakes nor opportunities to learn.

Family is messy.

Family is fun.

Here are our family rules that sit on our hallway chalkboard:

Any chance we get, Sexy Neck and I help connect our boys to their cousins.  It has been incredible to watch them grow-up together.

Hand-in-hand.

Walking.

Jumping.

Laughing.

Saying “I’m sorry” and moving on.

Back to fun!

Be Five

The days are sometimes long but the years are very short.

Five years ago, CC was born. This athletic, witty, smart, wondrous boy came into our family in the water on a Thursday just before lunch.

Today, full of gratitude for life, we celebrate five years with CC. He gets to choose what we eat: waffles, then Japanese food for lunch and frittata for dinner. Plus a birthday cake with vanilla icing. Decorated with a few surprises on top!

The planning started many weeks before. Here is our oldest and Sexy Neck creating a bed for CC’s teddy bear from scrap wood:

Sexy Neck created another masterpiece:

It was a water-filled birthday!

Be Painting Yet Another Wall.

This wall is a paint can full of love for my boys.

First my man, Sexy Neck:

And then my wee boys:

My imperfect love poured out.

God’s redeeming love making it perfect.

All that I have.

All that I am.

Love I cannot describe.

Rich.

Humble.

Grateful.

A wife.

A mother.

Poured out through paint, through words, through actions.

Freely given.

Love.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Be a Man!

My man is a man! I mean truly a man. He is the leader of our family and I respect him immensely. He is an idea guy, an athlete, a play-by ear guitarist, a hardworker, an amazing father and a loving husband! I believe that he can do anything he sets his mind to! So often I help him set his mind to things. tee heee… The one thing that I always love him to do is to write on our entry chalkboard to honour our boys birthdays. Here are 2 of daddy chalkboard signs this year:Image

Thanks hon, for being a man!
