Be Playing with Paper

I walked out the door yesterday for four hours.

Walked into our old church to celebrate an incredible colleague’s life.

A woman who was a mom, wife, teacher, friend, aunt… an incredible human being, filled with inner light and love.

She also had the best shoes and rings!

Her students’ sang the birthday song in the most creative, loving and loud way possible.  (I know because I was across the hall from her!)

While I was gone, Sexy Neck played with the boys.

Putting water in the fish pond.

Tidying up the yard.

Eating snacks.

And creating with white printer paper.

Sexy Neck has to be one of the most creative people that I know.

He can take any normal object and create something beautiful and inspiring!

Yesterday it was paper…

Created into rescue vehicles.  We now have a roadway on our kitchen table and some very happy boys!

Thank you Sexy Neck for seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary.

What ordinary object today will create an extraordinary for you or the people you love?

Have a wonderful Sunday Funday and rest day!

Be Believing in You!

If we don’t believe in ourselves first, Who will?

If we deeply believe in ourselves, Who could stop us?

Belief is a choice.

Belief is an attitude.

Belief is power.

Belief is unstoppable.

I am not the most gifted nor talented person in my fields, but I do have unshakeable belief.

Belief in God.

Belief that I am uniquely made.

Belief I have gifts to share.

Belief I am ENOUGH!

Be Putting Up Glass Walls

Yesterday, my husband, Sexy Neck, spent Saturday banging two by fours together to create a wall in half of our unfinished basement.

The goal was to put up a wall to “cover up” our overflow food pantry, his tools and bench as well as some storage items.

He put up this incredibly beautiful, square wall, with vents to access the hot water tank, plus an extra large door.

Sexy Neck thinks of everything.

The wall is incredible and wonderfully made.

The items behind the wall are a bit more haphazard and are in need of culling.

When you peek behind the door, you can see all the miscellaneous items that we are trying to hide.

As I watched this wall begin to create a barrier yesterday, I had to ask myself:

What walls have you created in your mind and heart that you are hiding from?

What stuff are you not dealing with that are behind the wall?

And now today I am choosing to take action with these two questions.

I will deal with three unfinished relationships.

I will not hide.

I will reach out.

I will ask forgiveness.

I will be vulnerable.

Nothing hidden behind the steel walls in my mind.

Walls now lovingly created with glass in my open mind for my own health and transparency.

Allowing freedom.

Allowing peace.

Allowing me to be….

Me.

Be a River, Not a Reservoir

As our household moves from one income for almost SIX years, to FIVE streams of income in the next year, we are talking about what to “do” with this ‘extra’ income.

We have been intentional and made it work so that I could stay at home raising our world’s greatest resource, our children.

We are very fortunate, that we have lived without televisions, cell phones, movies, extra cars, boats and recreational toys for the last six years.

We haven’t been trying to keep up with the Joneses.

We are the Cann’s.

And….

We “Cann” do it. (You had to know I was going to say that!)

As we move into these five different possibilities of income, we are open to how to continue to be a river with our money and not a reservoir.

Which small businesses can we support?

Who can we donate to and bless?

What activities could our boys try that we couldn’t even consider before?

It is a true blessing to not cringe anymore when the boys have a hole in one of their running shoes. (And we got ourselves five people with shoe “wants”! Here is our front closet of summer flipflops, soccer cleats, running shoes and sandals.)

It is a great gift to be able to donate to anyone that may ask.

It is humbling to have more than we need to run our household.

May we continue to pass on these great gifts to the river that surrounds us.

The river of beautiful people in our city and around the world.

May God multiply all that we do.

With gratitude for all that we have.

With thanks for all that we can do.

With humble hearts for all the opportunities we have to share life with people.

Thanks be to God.
