Be on a Rock

My life currently feels like I have been living in a shaker of sand and it has all been turned upside down.

Emotionally things are tenuous as I have always been prone to exaggeration and extreme emotions, just ask Sexy Neck. The greatest thing about your Expectations being spilled out all over the earth you get to see what and who matters in life.

I am blessed with a few supportive and minimally judgmental parents and friends.

I am also blessed with good books to spur me on. The first and foremost for me is the bible, checkout Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Did you notice that word ‘enough’?

The other two books that are encouraging me right now are “Daring Greatly” and a book by John Bevere. You will have go google the title because I think it is a horrible title and doesn’t justify this great book about offense.

Here is what a read today from page 82.

“God showed my wife, Lisa, five purposes for shaking an object:
1. To bring it closer to it’s foundation.
2. To remove what is dead.
3. To harvest what is ripe.
4. To awaken.
5. To unify or mix together so it can no longer be separated.”

I found these 5 purposes oddly encouraging as I thought about my life and watched my sons playing on the rocks.

(Picture to come!)

Lord, my life feels like I am crawling along the rocks, but I know that You are my rock.

Be Letting Go

Tis the Season of Rushing… I am starting to feel things rev up inside of me as the calendar becomes packed up and the to-do-list gets longer.

Thank God for the insight of children.

We were playing at the playground last week and JC looked across the lake and exclaimed: “There is a piece of heaven!” Here is the photo I took of what JC was looking at:

Amid the storm that often brews for people during this season, the light of God shines through.

I am definitely in the eye of a storm. I need to keep focused on His light and His love and His ways.

Tomorrow is week two of living 60 kilometres down the lake. When our family of five was staying in this lovely basement suite beside the vineyard, I felt calm and relaxed. But this weekend, we stepped back into our life and I feel confused trying to figure “things” out and I feel ‘harried’.

I am reminded of a saying that I heard when I first became a Christian because I definitely can’t figure this one out.

“Let Go and Let God.”

Be a Woman of Faith

We all put our “faith” into something. We have faith that our husbands will honour their marriage vows. We have faith that the furnace will come on the first cold day of fall. We have faith that our children will be safe in the care that we place them.

Faith according to http://www.merriam-webster.com/ is putting your complete trust into something and a sincerity of intentions, just to name a few definitions.

On May 16, 1993, as a University student, sitting in my childhood bedroom, I put my faith in Jesus. I asked the God of the Universe to show me he was present and he did.

Now I see my “faith” being lived out in the lives of my children. Each morning I have a quiet time to journal and read. I enjoy hanging out with Jesus and seeing what he wants to teach me. Most Tuesday nights I join an incredible group of ladies for a bible study/cry/laugh session. (You know women!)

Here are my boys one night before bath time, they decided to start their own bible study…
