Be Wondering about Water, Garbage and Plastic

🎶 Fish and Chips and Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar. Fish and Chips and Vinegar. Pepper, pepper, pepper salt. One bottle pop, two bottle pop, three bottle pop, four bottle pop, five bottle pop, six bottle pop, seven bottle pop, pop. Don’t throw your junk in my backyard, my backyard, my backyard. Don’t throw your junk in my backyard cause my backyard’s filled. 🎶

Anyone else remember this song? It came to mind today as I took a 75 kilometre (46.6 mile) bike ride around our beautiful valley this morning. I also pondered a few things about our beautiful, healing planet.

What would happen if every person in the world resolved never to buy a container that was composed of water or was water itself? Shampoo, lotion, laundry soap, cleaning products, juice, chicken broth are a few that come to mind. Imagine if products ONLY came in concentrated pacs or bars or granules and then we added the water to that product once we purchased it. I have no idea how this would work, as I sit here on a Sunday night, but I wonder how much money would be save in transporting costs and how would the world we live in change?

What would happen if everything that a manufacturer churned out, they also had to dispose of on their own property? How would our personal spending habits change if we had to dispose of every single product that we acquired in our own backyard? (Yes, now you see the connection to the song I was singing at the top. HAHA!) How would the cycle of consumerism profoundly change with these two patterns?

What would happen if every plastic product on earth was banned? I am not a scientist, but I have heard rumblings that recycling is the greatest myth of my generation. Plastics are mostly petroleum based and there are some scientists that believe that they are never destroyed, but simply get smaller… and smaller… and smaller…. (Yes, you can see what I am throwing out there!)

And that’s all for this Sunday night folks. Keep thinking, hugging and loving what you do.

Be Sellin’ Some GreanTeaHAWAII!

You get a booth like this:

You get some incredible tea and amazing banners to make a booth look like Hawaii:

You add some incredible people helping me out: my Dad, Double D and Princess P (sorry I didn’t get a photo):

…. And you have a giant two day GreenteaHAWAII tea party with all the amazing people who wandered by.  I think around six hundred people tasted the tea during my sixteen hours spent at the booth.  I sold an incredible amount of tea to people that are looking to be healthier, have more energy or lose a little bit of weight.  I am a testament that the tea produces all three of these benefits!

I am overflowing with gratitude, extremely tired and happy to be home taking care of my not yet 100% healthy boys.

A mama’s heart and an entrepreneur excitement, I am still not sure if these two things mix!

But, man, did I have a fun two days!

Thanks Vtown!

Thanks GreenteaHAWAII and my dear friends who own the company.

Cheers!

Be A Fleecer

After my oldest son’s birth, I went back to part time teaching.  It became very clear, very quickly that I couldn’t do this “mother thing” and “teacher thing” at the same time while not having my heart crack into two pieces.

Sexy Neck and I decided that we needed to come up with a creative financial solution so that I could stay at home from work.  This involved selling our first “forever” home and finding a house with income.  This process took over a year and involved using our “fleece” to help us figure out where we should move to.

Here was our fleeceImage

Fleece: The things we wanted in a house, our rankings plus all the houses we looked at.

What is a fleece?

First, Sexy Neck and I believe that God has a plan for our lives… how can so many things be coincidences?

Second, there is a story in the Old Testament (before Jesus lived) about Gideon.  I am not a preacher so I will leave it up to God’s word.

Here is what it says:

Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised – look I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor.  If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.” (Judges 6:36-37)

My faith sometimes falters, my mind wanders, I get confused, but I know from experience that I can trust God completely.

Today our house has been sold – signed on the dotted line.

We have also created our “fleece” for our new home, praying that God will guide us the entire way.

Sexy Neck and I will now go look at some houses, rank them and see what unfolds.  We have 11 weeks to find a new place for our family of five to live.  Go God!
